ERT (Emergency Response Team) Superintendent

o Manage all ERT/Fire Crews On allocated shifts. o Maintain Emergency Response Equipment including Fixed Fire protection, First Aid, communication, Emergency vehicles and Rescue Equipment inline with a plan preventative maintenance. o Devise equipment functionality check schedules according to inventories and implement a check register. o Provide accurate and detailed weekly and monthly reports. o Prepare and support annual budget for Operations and investment on New Equipment and tools for effective response of ERT. o Prepare monthly duty rosters ensure sufficient site coverage of emergency personnel to respond to identified risk events. o Respond to and management all emergency incidents during normal working hours and when requested to do so by management or security control after normal working hours. o Make recommendations to the improved efficiency of the emergency team.

Planning and preparation

o Establish and maintain a register of possible emergency scenarios for the site and ensure the teams are equipped and trained to respond. o Maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures for fire, hazchem spills, & handling. o Ensure established company Emergency Response practices and procedures are upheld. o Development, implementation and Review of Emergency Response and fire operating procedures including the sites Emergency Response Plan. o Implement evacuation drill programs to ensure evacuations are conducted safety and efficiently.

Training and simulations

o Identify and conduct professional and proactive emergency response training o Develop the ERT to ensure knowledge and skills gaps are bridged and the team has the competence to respond to emergencies. o Conduct quarterly skills assessments to monitor competencies of all ERT members. o Prepare Training programme on a monthly basis and report progress. o Undertake incident simulations and preparedness drills inline with the likely event scenarios. o Conduct basic firefighting training for all employees on site. o Develop a program of training and development of volunteer brigades to support the rescue teams in the event of an emergency. o Maintenance of high standard of fitness and emergency readiness in the Emergency Response teams.

Fire prevention and inspections

o Plan and maintain records of all fire prevention inspections accross the Cobre Panama mine, port, Process and power plant areas. o Undertake Fire risk assessments before commencement of works and as required. o Update all fire inspection records and procedures on the site. o Ensure all regular fire inspections across the site are done within the scope of NFPA guidelines o Maintain and record all fire extinguisher on site, including the follow up of Annual o Inspection and required HT according to regulations in a register.


o Track and support all hot works and confined space working and other high-risk areas requiring fire or rescue cover. o Support the Safety Training team to develop and provide a confined space course to deliver to site personnel. o Advise the Safety Team on all legislative requirements pertaining to signage, emergency procedures and evacuation diagrams in line with NFPA and Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

o Grade 12 or "O" level or equivalent certificate/passed Fire Service Statutory Examinations Leading Fire-Fighter or Sub/Officers. Having completed Fire Prevention and Breathing Apparatus courses. o Certificare in Safety Management - CIEH o Industrial fire-fighting experience is essential o Advanced First Aid/Basic Life Support Certificates. o Holder of minimum Class C drivers Licence. o A minimum of 5-8 years post qualification experience. o A minimum of 3 years in a management or Fire Officer position. o Preferred minimum 3 years´experience in the mining industry. o Able to command and control Emergency Response teams. o Experience in Fire ground/Rescue Operation Procedures. o Experience in Emergency Management and disaster Preparedness. o Be Computer literate with good command of both oral and written English and Spanish. o Basic training and knowledge on Emergency Responde for Radiological incident. o Qualified on NFPA regulations applicable in National Regulations for Public Building and Industrial installations.
